CTTC participates in VERGE (GA No. 101096034) , a recently started EU 6G project bridging the transition to 6G towards an evolved AI-empowered open and secure RAN/Edge architecture. The project innovations will be applied to two main use cases contemplating low-latency, broadband and highly reliable industrial XR-driven teleoperation and remote industrial co-design, and to provide resilient, predictive, and safe autonomous tram driving. The CTTC will contribute with novel smart micro-orchestration mechanisms for disaggregated softwarized RAN elements, AI-ML techniques for joint dynamic management of split computing and RAN resources, and develop DLT-based solutions for enabling secure, decentralized, collaborative data sharing. The project has received a total of 6 M€ funding and a strong consortium with major industrial players (Arcelik, Ericsson, Intel, GTSI, Samsung, Turkcell), SMEs (Hiro Microdatacenters, Holo-light, Nearby Computing), and top research institutions (Barcelona Supercomputing Center, CTTC, King’s College London, University of Oulu, and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya which is leading the project).
