The EU-funded ATRIA project (AI-powered ground segment control for flexible payloads) will build a generic tool called AI-PCS capable of controlling satellite flexible payloads and their configurable traditional counterparts, Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques will provide the tool with the intelligence needed to autonomously decide the optimum configuration of the available satellite resources for on-demand service requests.
ATRIA started its activity in April 2021 and will carry out the first in-orbit validation of machine learning techniques for satellite ground segment control in June 2022. Specifically, CTTCs’ data-driven techniques will be validated in Eutelsat KONNECT and integrated with GMV ground segment control software. This is the seed of the management of forthcoming 5G NTN satellites. ATRIA is led by GMV Aerospace and Defense, part of the GMV Innovating Solutions group, which ranks #1 as worldwide satellite control center provider.
