The objective of this project is to jointly investigate multi-layer Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) over Spatial Division Multiplexing (SDM) NETWORKS. Spatial channels networks based on SDM technology can provide multiple spatial channels on a Multi-core or multi-mode fiber. It brings a new approach for building WDM networks with virtual topologies that consists on deploying virtual links between WDM nodes using spatial channels provided by the SDM network.
